Resurrection Festival

I was chosen to provide marketing for an incredible event called the resurrection festival, the challenge was that this event is for anyone and everyone who enjoys the musical genius of those who have passed on. This is a 3 day event where each day an unbelievable lineup of musicians return from the dead for one final performance for their fans while this event caters to older generations there are still plenty of young people with old souls who will certainly be in attendance so the need for web based advertising is a must.

Discovery

To develop an aesthetic for the Resurrection Festival, I began by researching the diverse lineup of late musical legends—each from different eras and styles. The challenge was finding a unifying concept, and after exploring ideas like zombies, religion, and time travel, I landed on portals. Portals offered a neutral, flexible metaphor for resurrection—one that allowed full creative freedom and visually tied the experience together without overshadowing the artists themselves.

Colors

I chose a very dark grey background—dark enough to feel like black, but soft enough to let surrounding details stand out rather than get lost. Gold was used for the portals and headings to establish visual hierarchy and bring a sense of significance and energy, while white served as a clean accent for body copy.

Typography

Type was key in supporting the festival’s tone. I used Discourse in a few weights to create varying levels of importance across headings and navigation. For body copy, I selected Diphylleia for its modern, slightly psychedelic feel—a nod to the 1960s and 70s roots of many of the featured artists.

Sketches / Wireframes

With the concept in place, I moved into sketching to explore layout and interaction. These early sketches focused on how musicians, navigation, and portals would visually and functionally interact across the site. A big part of this phase was experimenting with portal styles—finding the right look and feel took time and plenty of iterations. Through sketching, I began shaping a visual rhythm that honored each artist while weaving them into a cohesive, otherworldly experience.

Final Design

The final design brings the Resurrection Festival to life with a dynamic, immersive layout. At the top of the page, a row of floating portals acts as intuitive navigation—guiding users through the experience with a sense of motion and mystery. On the left side of the page, the visual spotlight shifts between legendary musicians as they emerge from portals above and below, surrounding a bold call-to-action inviting users to buy tickets before it’s too late.

As users scroll, the musicians remain fixed in place while essential event details glide along the right side—offering context without interrupting the flow. The experience concludes with a curated list of testimonials from fans who saw these icons live in their prime, adding a layer of reverence and nostalgia. Altogether, the design feels like a living tribute—one that captures the surreal excitement of the festival while making it easy for visitors to take part.

Ads

After finalizing the website interface, I moved on to designing ads—ensuring they matched the visual language already established. By building off the site’s aesthetic, I was able to create promotional materials that felt cohesive, instantly recognizable, and conceptually tied to the portal-based resurrection theme. The goal was to craft ads that not only stood out online, but also felt like natural extensions of the festival experience.

Reflections

Resurrection Festival challenged me to design an experience that spans generations, honoring legendary artists while staying accessible and immersive. Balancing nostalgia with clarity, I learned the value of restraint—how a strong concept and thoughtful layout can guide users through even the most fantastical ideas. More than just promoting an event, this project was about evoking emotion—rekindling memories and offering fans one last moment with the icons they love.
